Cambria Hotel Boston Downtown – Seaport Review

Hey there, fellow travelers!

This past month, some customer meetings brought me to the historic city of Boston. While my schedule was packed, I needed a comfortable and convenient home base. After a bit of research, I settled on the Cambria Hotel Boston Downtown – Seaport, located at 6 W Broadway. It promised modern style and a great location, and I was eager to see if it would live up to the hype. Here’s a full rundown of my experience.

Getting There

As always, my trip started in at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in Charlotte, NC which is my home airport. After taking an American Airlines flight to Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS), I was pleased to find that getting to the hotel was generally a breeze. It’s not far, and a quick rideshare seemed like the most straightforward option.

Traveler’s Tip: Word of advice for your own travels: plan your rideshares carefully during peak hours! Trying to get an Uber or Lyft to the hotel around 5 PM from Logan was an absolute lesson in patience. It took what seemed like a never ending 40 minutes for the car to even arrive due to traffic, and then another 40 minutes to navigate the congested streets. On the flip side, my 7 AM ride from the hotel back to the airport was perfectly fine. That rush hour is no joke!

Checking In

Stepping into the Cambria lobby was a breath of fresh air. The design is modern, clean, and welcoming. The front desk staff were fantastic—friendly, efficient, and had me on my way to my room in just a few minutes. It’s always a relief when the check-in process is seamless, and the front desk really delivered on that with their service.

The Room: 1315

I was assigned room 1315, and let me tell you, the second I opened the door, I was floored by one thing: the AMAZING view of the Boston skyline. It was one of those moments where you just have to stop and stare for a minute. I very rarely get views like that when traveling for work.

The room itself was immaculately clean and well-appointed. After a long day of travel and meetings, a few things really stood out. First, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and despite being in a bustling area (near the elevator), the room was quiet. I got a genuinely good night’s sleep, which is often the most important thing on a work trip. Second, and this is a detail fellow travelers will appreciate, the water pressure in the shower was fantastic! It’s a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in starting your day off right. Lastly, while I’m used to using irons in most hotels, Cambria provided a steamer instead which was a welcome little bonus (we steam our clothes at home).

Hotel Amenities and Dining

While my schedule was tight, I did take a look at the hotel’s amenities. They have a large, modern fitness center that looked impressive. But the crown jewel seems to be their new rooftop bar and restaurant complex called The Essex. It has a beautiful dining room and a sprawling rooftop terrace with what looked like more of those stunning panoramic city views.

I didn’t get a chance to eat there, but it’s a huge plus to have such a chic-looking spot right in the hotel for a meal or a cocktail after a long day. I did meet some coworkers for dinner and desert though, elsewhere in the city.

  • Dinner in the North End: We ate at Quattro on Hanover street. The Chicken Parm was delicious, but the Napoletana pizza from the coal-fired oven was a showstopper—the crust was incredible!

  • Iconic Dessert: A trip to the North End isn’t complete without dessert from Mike’s Pastry. I had one of their famous Boston cream donuts, and it was every bit as huge and delicious as promised. The place was packed, and unfortunately cash only (a friend spotted me $5) but the line moved quickly.

Location & Getting Around

The hotel bills itself as being in the Seaport area, and it’s located right where South Boston (“Southie”) meets the Seaport district. This turned out to be incredibly convenient for my meetings. A short Uber or Lyft ride was all it took to get to the heart of downtown Boston in the Bank of America building where my meeting was.

Traveler’s Tip: While ridesharing is easy, be mindful of peak traffic times. If you need to be somewhere during rush hour, give yourself a significant buffer. The Broadway T station (Red Line) is also right nearby, which is a great alternative for getting around the city.

Overall Thoughts on Cambria Hotel Boston Downtown – Seaport

So, what’s the final verdict? I had a fantastic stay at the Cambria Hotel Boston Downtown – Seaport and would absolutely recommend it, especially for business travelers or anyone looking for a modern and comfortable stay with killer views.

The combination of a clean, quiet room, excellent sleep quality, and that unforgettable skyline view made it a winner. While the rideshare situation during rush hour was a pain point, it’s more a reality of Boston traffic than a fault of the hotel itself, and it’s manageable with a little planning. The convenience of getting to my meetings downtown was a major plus.

If you’re looking for a stylish hotel that delivers on comfort, convenience, and a view that will make your trip memorable, the Cambria Hotel is an excellent choice.

Until the next journey!
